Wilmar Marvin Woelzlein

Wil Woelzlein was born on July 23rd, 1929 to Clara and Marcus Woelzlein in Frankenmuth Michigan. He was the oldest of 6 boys. He was baptized Lutheran and remained so throughout his life. Religion and spirituality was very important to him, you could tell that by how he lived his life. My dad never met anyone he didn’t care about. That is because he considered every person a child of God. I am thankful to be his daughter. I have made my share of mistakes during my life. My dad has always been there with support, advice and love- no judgement, The love of my dad’s life was his wife of 70 years, my mom, Louise. Even at the end, with memory issues, he remembered her. He devoted his adult life to making her happy, and the last 5 years of her life to taking care of her. They worshiped, traveled the world and raised 2 kids together. My dad worked at Monsanto for 35 years. I was told by one of his friends/co-workers that there was a saying at Monsanto, ‘Where there’s a Wil, there’s a way’. He imagined out of the box ideas that were implemented at Monsanto and used while he oversaw building chemical plants from Wales to Brazil. My dad always walked with Jesus. He was a youth group leader with my mom when he was stationed in the army in Pine Bluff Arkansas. He volunteered many hours at their home church, Concordia Lutheran in Kirkwood MO. In fact, they won The Gunderman Volunteer of the Year Award one year at the church. When my dad retired from Monsanto, he was offered a position in a Boston firm who told him to ‘name his price’. He turned it down to spend more time with his wife and devote time to the church. My dad’s pride and joy was his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved spending time with them watching them learn and grow. He would be proud of how they all rallied around him after his accident, taking care of him, spending time with him, praying for him. My dad touched so many people in his life, through his faith, intelligence and kindness. We are happy he is with Jesus experiencing a love that we can’t even imagine, with my mom. We are happy he is whole and at peace. We will miss him beyond measure.
