Pham Thi Lien

Pham Thi Lien, of Webster Groves, Missouri, passed away February 26, 2026 at the age of 91. She was born on August 16, 1934 in Hai Duong, Vietnam to Pham Van Tam and Nguyen Thi Hung, who have preceded her in death. Loving wife of the late Thanh Nguyen; devoted mother of Thang Nguyen (Thuy Pham), Loi Vo (Thanh Vo), Binh Nguyen (Khiem Nguyen), Trang Nguyen, Hoang Nguyen (Susie Nguyen), Hang Trinh (My Trinh), Huyen-Nga Vo (Si Vo), and Anh-Tuan Nguyen; cherished grandmother and great grandmother. Pham Thi Lien, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Hai Duong, North Vietnam, she lived a life defined by sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering love for her children. In 1954, during the division of Vietnam, Lien made the courageous decision to leave her homeland in North Vietnam and migrate south with her first child. In the years that followed, she and her husband, who served in the military, built their family together. She became the proud mother of eight children — four sons and four daughters — dedicating her life wholeheartedly to their care and well-being. In 1975, amid great uncertainty, Lien once again demonstrated extraordinary strength by leaving Vietnam and immigrating to the United States with her family. In a new country, she continued to do what she had always done best: love fiercely, work tirelessly, and put her family first. As a housewife and mother, she sacrificed endlessly so her children could have opportunities she never had. Lien found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sewing and knitting, often creating beautiful handmade items for her family. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, where meals were prepared with care and served with love. She took pride in keeping a clean and welcoming home. In her later years, she enjoyed aerobics, trips to the casino, and shopping — one of her favorite pastimes. She delighted in makeup, getting her nails done, and feeling her best at any age. Her greatest joy was her growing family. She was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild on the way. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her grandchildren, watching them grow, and sharing stories, laughter, and love. Pham Thi Lien’s life was one of courage, devotion, and quiet strength. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the values she instilled, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
