Margie Miller

Margie Lou Miller, daughter of Gaius Robert and Edna L. nee Krohne Allan, was born January 20, 1941 in St. Louis, MO. She received her elementary education in the public schools and graduated in January 1960 from O’Fallon Technical School with a concentration in stenography. In 1957 she was baptized at Maplewood Bible Chapel and on June 15, 2000 she became a communicant at Peace Lutheran church where her membership since has remained. On November 19, 1960 she united with Donald Merle Miller with whom she experienced nearly 53 years in the nuptial estate. Besides her loving husband, Margie is survived by her children: David Miller, Douglas (Mary nee Krejci) Miller, and Dawn (Vernon) Gano, III; grandchildren: Heather (Vaughn) Visser, Michelle Kennon, Mallory Miller, and Ty Gano, great-grandchildren: Haylie Visser, Aya Kennon and Aubrie Visser, her brothers-and sisters-in-law: Dawn Allan, Esther and Lynette Miller, and James (Mary) Miller, alongside other family members, neighbors, and a host of friends including her former schoolmates. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gaius Allan, Jr. and her brothers-in-laws: Floyd and Harold Miller. As a devoted and committed spouse, Margie will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and an approachable friend and neighbor. For a time she worked as a teacher’s assistant at Wohlwend Elementary in the Mehlville School District. However, for most of her married life she was a stay-at-home wife and mother who spent time with her children and grandchildren, and who enjoyed crocheting and related aspects of home making. Margie enjoyed relatively good health until the advances of age began to weaken her condition. Yet, despite diminishing health in recent years, she was able to remain at home under the care of her husband and family until admission of St. Anthony’s Medical Center on September 14. After a brief stay, she was placed under hospice care and returned home on September 18 where she remained until her passing early Monday, September 23, 2013. She attained the age of 72 years, 8 months and 3 days. Following this service she will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. PDF Printable Version
