Lucy LaGail Roulhac

Lucy LaGail Roulhac passed away unexpectantly on September 17, 2022. The family is both devastated and shocked by her death. She was 72 years young. Lucy, affectionately known as Gail to most, was born on May 13, 1950, to Clarence and Cleotha Roulhac of Portsmouth, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Gwendolyn Buffaloe. Ever since she was little girl, Lucy was an avid reader. She could always be found with her nose in a book, even when she was supposed to be doing chores. Lucy graduated from I.C. Norcom High School and went on to further her education, earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Norfolk State University. She later moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where her sister Joyce lived. She obtained her Master of Public Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her career included working as a counselor, structural building inspector, social worker, and epidemiologist HIV/AIDS coordinator. She was a member of the National Association of Black Social Workers and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was also a published poet. Lucy loved to travel. She visited France, Germany, Switzerland, the U.K. and West Africa. She was always interested in discussing current events, history and science. Lucy could hold a conversation with anyone. And she did. She was a joyful presence with her colorful clothing and creative fashion choices. Lucy loved to sew. She had a passion for nature. As a cat and dog lover, she was known in the neighborhood for her daily walks of Moe and Marley, whom she spoiled. A serious woman who could cut you with her tongue or give you sound advice, she left an impression on all she met. Lucy has a legacy as a loving, generous, devoted sister, aunt, and friend. Lucy leaves to cherish her memory her siblings Clarence Roulhac Jr, Joyce McDaniel, Dwight Roulhac, LaMyra Astrop, Ronnie Roulhac, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues and neighbors. Please gather and connect with Lucy’s family during a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until time of reflection and celebration during a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 10301 Big Bend Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Food and beverage will be served at Chapel Hill Mortuary during a Repass immediately following.
