Laura Evelyn Chalfant Armstrong

Laura Evelyn Armstrong, of High Ridge, Missouri formerly of Fenton, Missouri known as Evelyn Chalfant owner operator of Evelyn’s Beauty Salon, was born November 1, 1920 and was received into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the age of 99 years. She is preceded in death by, her parents, one son Arthur Bruyere and three siblings, Germanne Berra, Charles Harper and Kay Mogelnicki. She is survived by, two (2) children, Martha Wonsewitz and Charles “Richard” (Kerry) Bruyere, one (1) daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Bruyere, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, along with many other family and friends. Laura loved fixing hair, dancing, the Cardinals, canning (especially green beans) and her cat CoCo. She was a beauty operator-owner of shops in Fenton and High Ridge for more than 57 years, doing her last customer at 92 years young. Her customers were family to her. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. A Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by a Private Funeral Service. Please be mindful of the CDC guidelines below. It will be organized in small gatherings at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, MO 63016 with attendees receiving numbers when they arrive on-site, remaining in their cars and entering when they are invited by number. Please be prepared for a short waiting period, prior to entering the chapel. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Fenton Historical Society 1 Church Street, Fenton, Missouri 63026. Safe gathering guidelines from the CDC, State and Local Health agencies are summarized below and intended to provide safety to you and your family along with the family of Laura, extended family and friends in our community, as well as our staff. These guidelines include: 10 or fewer individuals, frequent hand washing, 6-foot distancing and wearing a face cover. Please, DO NOT GATHER if you are experiencing cough, fever, tiredness, shortness of breath or if you are diagnosed with, quarantined related to or have a known exposure to someone with Coronavirus or COVID-19. Young children and at-risk individuals, are asked to not attend for their own health and safety.
