Jimmie (Jim) Bauer

Bauer, Jimmie (Jim) of Sappington, Missouri, was born May 9, 1931 to the late Edward and Alice (nee Zanzie) Bauer and entered into eternal rest Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the age of 93 years. Cherished husband of the late Betty (Swindel); beloved father to his (4) children, Kristin (Sharon Korte) Bauer, Alison (Anton) Ruehl, Melissa (Michael) Armstrong and John (Kim) Bauer; loving grandfather to Jill, Amanda, Eric, Amy, Laura, Ryan, Kyle, Grace, Jack and Zachary; dear great-grandfather, brother (Donald Bauer), uncle and friend. Jim was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather and great grandfather. He found his greatest joy spending time with his family, who brought him immense pride and joy. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing with his son, John. Jim and Betty were a true love story, married 65 years until her passing in 2020. They devoted their lives to each other and to their children. They loved entertaining, especially holidays with the family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. They traveled the world making new friends in every country, even hosting them while they were visiting the United States. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a cartographer, followed by a 40 year career as the Assistant Chief of the Graphic Arts Department at the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center, contributing to national security with his skills and dedication to his country. A faithful member of St. Lucas United Church of Christ in St. Louis, Jim lived a life of faith, love and service. His legacy of devotion will be remembered by all who knew and loved him. A private interment will take place on November 4, 2024 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
