Dr. James Randolph Bushey

Bushey, Dr. James Randolph, of Webster Groves, Missouri born May 7, 1927 in Peoria, Illinois to Leslie Leigh and Mary Cornelius (Randolph) Bushey entered heaven Saturday, April 22, 2017, 15 days short of his 90th birthday. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evangeline Opal Bushey Ellis. He is survived by: His spouse: Suzanne Jane (Spellerberg) Bushey, “Sue” of Webster Groves, Missouri. Married August 11, 1951, 65 years after 7 years of dating as high school sweethearts and dance partners. Children: Cynthia Lynn Bushey of Manassas, Northern Virginia, Mary Ann Bushey Niemann of Huntington, West Virginia and David Randolph Bushey of Bella Vista, Arkansas. Grandchildren: Michael James Niemann, Jennifer Anne Niemann, Logan Randolph Bushey, and Tyler Floyd Bushey. Sister: Marileigh Irma (Bushey) Jeffers and her family. James Randolph Bushey was a member of Kirkwood Baptist Church. Before attending his own high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy to serve during World War II. He went on to college studying statistics and educational psychology culminating with a doctorate from St. Louis University. He was a counselor and educator for Ritenour School District; Hoech Middle School for 35 years. Interests, among many, included birds, wildlife, reading, and civil war history. He had a great sense of humor and made everyone around him experience an excitement for life and fun. He always brought joy, unconditional love, and was there for anyone; especially his wife, family, and friends. Jim’s dedication and unconditional love to his beloved wife Sue was astonishing. Jim and Sue also directed a Christian dance group for 45 years. Jim regularly enjoyed taking his family on exciting travel adventures throughout the United States sharing attractions, museums, all the various art forms, and anything else that looked fun along the way. Dr. James Randolph Bushey is fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 4pm-8pm at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 10301 Big Bend Road, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Services will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 beginning with visitation at 9:30am followed by the service at 10:30am at Kirkwood Baptist Church, 211 N. Woodlawn Avenue, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be made in honor of Dr. James Randolph Bushey to the Red Cross or Kirkwood Baptist Church.
