Hugo Kramme

Hugo Kramme, a cherished soul who graced this world with kindness and a gentle spirit, peacefully passed away at his home on June 29, 2026. Born on July 19, 1931, in Dittmer, Missouri, Hugo was the beloved son of Ferdinand and Lizzie (nee Cordes) Kramme. Hugo's early years were rooted in the rich soil of the family farm, where he learned the virtues of diligence and perseverance. These traits would serve him well throughout his life, whether he was working for the Missouri Department of Transportation, driving trucks for Redhage Truck Line, or co-owning and operating K & W Cartage. Hugo's career was a testament to his tireless work ethic and his commitment to providing for his family. In April 1955, Hugo married the love of his life, Carol Jean Weber. Together, they built a beautiful life, sharing 66 wonderful years of marriage until Carol Jean's passing in 2021. Their union was blessed with three children: Donna (and husband Dave) Eads, Dave (and wife Denise) Kramme, and Gary (and wife Cindi) Kramme. Hugo's family was the center of his life, and he took immense pride in his grandchildren—April Wagner, Bill (and wife Heather) Kramme, Sara (and husband Matthew) Sutorius, Craig Kramme, and Cassie (and husband Nick) Doerger—as well as his great-grandchildren Bayly, Aiden, Alex, Brylee, Eulalie, Henry, Peyton, Mariel, Charlotte, Vada, Porter, Greyson, Aleister, Owen, and Layla. His love for them was boundless, and he cherished every moment spent in their company. Hugo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Jean, sisters Hazel and Florence and brother Leroy. A proud veteran, Hugo served his country with honor in the U.S. Army. He was a man of unwavering faith, a lifelong member of St. Martin's United Church of Christ in Dittmer, MO. His generosity and dedication to his community were evident in his steadfast support for the church and his love for the congregation. Hugo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a trout fisherman and enjoyed spending time on the bank even if he wasn’t catching much. He and Carol Jean loved to dance. They shared a passion for travel, spending winters in South Texas in their later years and taking family vacations when the kids were young. They spent many hours and days dedicated to the development of Shannondale Church Camp. Known for his dependable nature and boundless heart, Hugo was a man of reliability and compassion. His warmth and sincerity touched all who knew him, and his legacy of love and strength will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. A service celebrating Hugo's life will be held on July 6, 2026, at St. Martin's UCC in Dittmer, MO. Visitation starts at 9:00 a.m., a memorial service will be held at 12 pm with a graveside service following. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the St. Martin's Cemetery Fund. Hugo Kramme's departure leaves a profound void in the lives of those who loved him, yet his memory will forever be a light, reminding us of the power of love, hard work, and faith. As we gather to honor his life, we find peace in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those he leaves behind.
