Marcia Hubbard

Marcia Hubbard (nee James) was born August 13, 1949 in Corning, Arkansas and passed away October 17, 2023 in Cedar Hill, Missouri. She was 74 years old. She is preceded in death by her father, Curmel “Red” James. She is survived by her mother, Vallie (nee Brooks) James. Her loving husband, Virgil Hubbard. Her daughters, Renee Hubbard and Dana (Bob) Hahn. Her grandchildren, Christopher Devantier (28), Johnathan Devantier (25), Avery Brasher (20). Her siblings, Linda (nee James) (Tom) Piatchek, Mickey (nee James) (the Late Steven) Fenwick, Ronnie (Vicky) James. The visitation will be held Friday, October 27 at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill from11am to 2pm. The funeral service will begin at 2pm with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Cedar Hill was Marcia's hometown for more than 70 years. She was a beloved hairdresser during the 1970’s and 1980's for Kut N Kurl Salon. Once she retired from the salon, Marcia continued her service to the community by working for Sunny Hill and Jefferson College. Marcia and Virgil were avid motorcyclists and mastered nearly 3/4 of a million road miles together, throughout 34 states, spanning nearly 30 years, on their Honda Goldwing. Motorcycling with friends was a great passion of theirs, and being members of GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) gave them many new opportunities for friendship and adventure. Their shared love of traveling transferred from the Goldwings to a motorhome which opened new roads for fresh expeditions. Marcia was a vivacious, effervescent, inquisitive woman who enjoyed learning and sharing her knowledge. She was also a children's advocate for higher quality teaching, for better health and for better lives. She cherished her family, especially her husband, Virgil, with whom she journeyed through 55 years of marriage. Gardening, carpentry, home decorating, traveling, being a tailor-seamstress, and genealogy were just a few of the hobbies Marcia relished. For all of these things brought her much joy - laughing, loving, and the good times most importantly. Marcia was loved to the moon and back.
