Clara L. Hagerman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Clara L. Hagerman (née Nelson) passed away at her home in Chesterfield, MO, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born on April 5, 1931, to Robert Raymond and Grace Stamm Nelson in Sedan, KS. After her father passed away when she was four years old, Clara lived with her family in Dayton, OH, for a few years before they moved to Lawrence, KS. In Lawrence, Clara finished grade school and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1949. She then attended the University of Kansas, where she would join the Tri Delta sorority and graduate with a degree in Sociology in 1953. She married her husband Max on June 18, 1955, in the chapel on the University of Kansas campus. Clara retired from the Parkway School District as secretary to the principal. She was an active member of Bonhomme Presbyterian Church until her illness prevented her from attending. Her hobbies and interests included family, travel, bridge, reading, and sports (especially Kansas Jayhawks basketball). Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Raymond and Grace Stamm Nelson, her husband Max M. Hagerman in 2013, and her brother Robert M. Nelson. She is survived by her four children, Janice (Daniel) Richter, Thomas (Cheryl) Hagerman, Nancy Link, and David Hagerman; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Talbert and Laura Savage; sister-in-law, Rosalea Vogler; and numerous other family and friends. Clara's family and friends will forever cherish memories of her humor, kindness, love, and gentle spirit. The memorial service will be held at Bonhomme Presbyterian Church on August 19, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or St. Luke's Hospice Services.
