Ruth Mae Barnhart

Barnhart, Ruth Mae, of House Springs, Missouri, was born September 22, 1926 in Maries County, Missouri to Riley A. and Una (nee Wiles) Barnhart and entered into rest October 19, 2022 in House Springs, Missouri at the age of 96 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther F. Barnhart; one son-in-law, L.D. Bryant and one brother, Floyd Wayne Barnhart. She is survived by her one daughter, Connie Kay Bryant; three grandchildren, Ronald Wayne Bryant, Melissa DeAnn Claspille and Daniel Lee (Jessica) Bryant; two great granddaughters, Sydney Corrine Claspille and Mckenna Ruth Bryant; along with many other family and friends. Ruth was born in Maries County, Missouri in a small farmhouse not far from Stokes Cemetery. Her father passed away when she was just 12 and she went to live with her maternal grandparents while her mother worked to help support them. She graduated from Vienna High school and shortly after moved to St. Louis with her friend Esther to work at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceutical company. She married Luther Barhnart in 1944 and they settled in the High Ridge area to become lifelong residents. Ruth worked with her husband Luther in their Pilot Car business and logged many miles escorting oversized loads all over the country. Ruth also worked as a housekeeper for a small group of families for many decades, often becoming like part of the family. She retired from taking care of her last family in 2013 at the age of 87. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to everyone, and her lifelong ministry was caring for her family, extended family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri 63016. Entombment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum immediately following.
