Peter Anton Moisio

Moisio, Peter Anton, 62, of St. Louis passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, with St. Louis Arc Rainbow Village staff by his side. He was born May 18, 1962, to Alice Louise (nee Hall) and Victor Leonard Moisio in St. Louis, Missouri. Peter grew up in Columbia, Illinois, graduating from Columbia High School Special Education and working in a sheltered workshop for a few years. He was the youngest brother of Jo Ann Lancaster, Michael Moisio (Lee Kirby), Mary Moisio, Patricia Reim Ciapciak (Richard Scott), Marty Roberts, and Patrick Moisio (Mary Brown). Peter was uncle to Melissa Kim Lancaster Casparro, Richard Lancaster, Michael Lancaster (Tara), Marguerite Moisio, Michael (Colleen) Moisio, Jr., Alice Flath (John), Daniel Moisio, Roby Newton, Quincy Newton, Gary Reim, Jr. (Laurie Shea), Matthew Reim (Diane), Katrina Barnes (Andy), Bailey Roberts, and Elizabeth Roberts (Steve). Peter was great uncle of Angel, Richard, Max, Alison, Caitlin, Amanda, Ashley, Michael, III (Trip), Audrey, Calvin, Dunham, Parker, James Robert (JR), John, Cate, Adrianne, Matt, Jr., Ava, and Booker. And he was great, great uncle of Dylan, Elijah, and Maya. Peter loved playing basketball with the St. Louis Arc Bearcats team; bowling with the St. Louis Arc Saturday team as well as with friends; performing on stage with Theatre Unlimited at the Jewish Community Center; selling his Peter’s Card Shop, LLC greeting cards at the Tower Grove Market; sharing Monday dinners at Washington University with Natural Ties; going to dances at St. Clare and St. Louis Arc; attending the annual Albert Pujols Family Foundation prom with Bridget as his date; and sharing social time with his friends Duron, Stephanie, Bruce, Susie, Naomi, Laurie, Farrah, Ilya, Lauren, and many others! Peter started his 21 years of growth and independence in the St. Louis area when he moved from Tucson, Arizona, where he lived with his brother Rick and his wife Mary, to live with his sister Pat and her late husband, Stanley. Stan and Pat encouraged Pete in his independence, creativity, volunteerism, and confidence. Stan used his real estate expertise to help Peter find an apartment that was safe and perfect location-wise to Peter’s friends as well as his many activities. When living in his apartment, he was supported by Midwest Easter Seals staff. Additionally, Peter learned skills taught by Bill, Cathy, Carol, and Piper. When he moved to the St. Louis Arc Rainbow Village (Promise Community) campus, he evolved further with help from Craig, MaryAnne, Ed, Seth, Kristie, Eli, Amber, and countless others. The celebration of Peter’s life will be at Webster United Methodist Church, 600 North Bompart Avenue, Webster Groves, Missouri 63119, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024.
