Norma L. Evans Evans, Norma L., of Dittmer, Missouri, was born December 27, 1930 in High Gate, Missouri, to Charley and Opal (nee Ammerman) Southard, and entered into rest, March 9, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Festus, Missouri, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 10 days. She is preceded in death by her husband, Otto J. Evans, married September of 1950, her parents, two (2) siblings, June Barnwell and Shirley Hewett. She is survived by, two (2) children, Daniel (Barb) Evans, of Dittmer, Missouri and David (Edith) Evans, of House Springs, Missouri, eight (8) grandchildren, Daniel (Jeni) Couter, Jr., Terri (John) Walters, Sarah (Jay) Welch, Tom (Michelle) Evans, Melissa (Eric) Haas, David “Bo” (Rachel) Evans, Jr., Michael (Dana) Evans and Mitchell (Lisa) Evans, seventeen (17) great grandchildren, Josh, Rylee, Alicia, Trystan, JJ, Krysten, Nate, Bekah, Anna, Joshua, Kaden, Jace, Kaylin, Brooke, Jordyn, Cody and Laura, one (1) great- great grandchild, Kane, her brother Robert (Pat) Southard of DeSoto, Missouri, and many other relatives and friends. Norma and Otto shared a life filled with love. Their story of how they met is a favorite told by their family: Otto would drive his dump truck each day by Norma’s house, where she would be sweeping the stoop. She had the cleanest stoop in town. He began driving her to the bus stop to spend even more time with her. He finally won her affection when he purchased her homemade pie at a social, and they were together, happily, ever after. Norma was a wonderful homemaker and matriarch for her family. She is fondly remembered and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation Thursday, March 13, 2014, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, MO 63016. Service will be Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Interment at High Gate Baptist Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.
