Michael "Mickey" Garrett

Michael D. Garrett of Cedar Hill, Missouri, was born January 3, 1957 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert J. and Connie (nee Petty) Garrett and entered into rest Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the age of 69 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kevin Eoff; mother-in-law, Mary J. Betle; father-in-law, Louis C. Betle; brother-in-law, Larry Scheiter. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (nee Betle) Garrett; children, Michael (Megan) Garrett and Ryan (Jeremy) Garrett; 4 grandchildren, Zeddicus, Charissa, Torin, and Novalie; sister, Sharon (Bob) Mellem; along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. He worked as a machine mechanic for Tension Envelope (St. Louis) for 12 years and then went to GE St. Louis Lamp for 15 years until they closed down and moved to Mexico. He loved working on machinery and put in lots of long hours as a mechanic. He also loved attending NASCAR races. He attended quite a few of them with his brothers-in-law and friends. He was always out for a good time. He loved camping and trout (fly) fishing with his buddies and two sons, Cardinal baseball games, and shooting his guns at the shooting range. His “happy place” was when he was with his grandkids. He always said being a grandpa was the best part of his “golden years!” He enjoyed watching them playing their sports—soccer, baseball, and football. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and loving grandfather. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, MO 63016. Private interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill, Missouri.
