Melvin Leroy Brown

Melvin Leroy Brown, 74 of Festus Missouri, Passed away on May 10, 2021 in Festus Missouri.He was born Oct 9, 1946 in Bonne Terre Missouri. The son of the Late Norvill L and the Late Mildred M Brown (nee Kohler). Mel was raised in Herculaneum. He was caddy at Joachim golf course and worked for F.W. Harter Plumbing throughout High School. He was an Eagle Scout. In March of 1966 he enlisted in the US Navy and served until November of 1969.When he came back from the Navy, he worked as an investigator for an Insurance Company, but that was short lived, he picked the plumbing tools up again and went to work for Gene Harter Plumbing. He was a member Plumbers Union Local 35. He married his wife Charlynn (Lynn) on Sept 11, 1970. In June, 1979, they founded Brown Plumbing and Heating and ran it together until his health forced retirement. Survived by: Wife- Charlynn A. (Lynn) Brown (Fresta/Bauman) of Festus Missouri. Son- Robert D. Brown of Hillsboro Missouri. Daughter- Melissa (Chris) Knight of Crystal City Missouri. Son- Ben (John) Brown of Eola Illinois. Granddaughter- Cassidy (Brad) Brown of St. Louis Missouri Grandson- Kaleb (Megan) Brown of Hillsboro Missouri. Granddaughter- Maggie (Peter) Rola of Hillsboro Missouri Granddaughter- Sophia Knight of Crystal City Missouri Grandson- Grady Knight of Crystal City Missouri. Great Grandchildren- Easton, Lillyana, and Brayden. Sister- Kay (Ken) Helenschmidt of Festus Missouri. Brother- Norvill Lee (the Late Darlene) Brown of St. Peters Missouri Sister- Betty Ann (Ron) Boyster of De Soto Missouri. Visitation: Tuesday May 18, 2021 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at the Robert D. Brown Funeral Home Inc. 103 Fourth St. Hillsboro Missouri 63050. Request Mask at Visitation. Funeral: Tuesday May 18, 2021, 11:30 am in the Funeral Home Chapel, Deacon Jerry Stoverink will officiate. Request Mask at Funeral service. Interment: With full Military Honors will follow the Funeral service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. 30 People Max at Cemetery/ Must wear Mask at Cemetery.
