Marge Lakebrink

Margeva (Marge) Gertrude Lakebrink, age 91, of Union, MO, (formally Dittmer, MO) passed away on January 18, 2026. Marge was born on January 10, 1935, in Craig County, OK, daughter of Alice Mae (Green) and Thornton Dalton Bishop. Marge attended elementary school in Wimmer School District, Oklahoma, and high school in Welch, OK. She attended college in Miami, OK where she met her husband, Alex Lakebrink, from Union, MO. Marge and Alex were united in marriage in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on January 26, 1952, in Miami by Elder Frank Kyser. She and Alex were married for 68 years. Early in their marriage Marge and Alex moved to Missouri, and after a few years, built a home in House Springs, MO. After several years they moved to Dittmer, MO. In 2019, a fire destroyed their home, and they relocated to Union, MO. Marge worked at McGraw Hill Book Co in St. Louis, MO, for 16 years. She received her realtors license and later her broker’s license. Marge and Alex owned Lakebrink Realty and Lakebrink Hauling and Excavating in Dittmer, MO. Marge was a member of Community of Christ where she served as an elder. She and Alex were instrumental in planting the Dittmer congregation opening their home for house church before the building was completed. Marge’s favorite activities centered around her church life and considered others in the congregation family. Her hobbies were cooking and sewing. Cooking for others was Marge’s way of sharing love. Marge often cooked at church events and decorated numerous wedding cakes. One of her greatest sewing accomplishments was designing and making her daughter’s wedding dress and the dresses of the girls in the wedding party. Marge found her greatest joy in giving to others. On several occasions, Marge and Alex shared their home and resources with other families. Marge is survived by her daughter, Linda (husband Dennis) Andrae of Villa Ridge, MO; four grandchildren, Christpher Lakebrink (Shannon), St. Louis, MO, Amy Hoerchler (Scott) Sullivan, MO, Angela Sudduth (Joseph) Pacific, MO, and Jessica Golet (Chri[s) O’Fallon MO; Nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas Hoerchler (McKenzie) and Stephen Hoerchler, Sullvan, MO, Andrae Sudduth (Madison Greco), Grant Sudduth, and Walker Sudduth, Pacific, MO and Allison [Dominic James (DJ) Erson] Lakebrink, Alabama and Cameron Lakebrink, St. Louis, MO; Ethan Golet and Gavin Golet, O’Fallon, MO; one daughter-in-law, Karen Stough. Also surviving Marge are one sister Laura Helen (Daniel) Riley, one brother-in-law Curtis Rylant, one sister-in-law, Dolores Fritzmeyer, many other family and friends. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Lakebrink; one son, Michael Lakebrink; parents Dalton and Alice Bishop; and siblings James Bishop, Alice Marie Rylant, and Dalton Ray Bishop. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 22, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, MO, 63016. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Camp Woodland Hills are suggested.
