Joyce M. Jarvis

Joyce M. Jarvis, 80, died Thursday, April 24, 2025, at her Festus home with her family by her side. Joyce was born October 13, 1944, in Crossville, Missouri, to Earl and Majorie Barton. Career driven and successful, she married Kenith W. Jarvis Sr. on June 9, 1984, after fate had crossed their paths as co-workers at Brown Shoe Company. Through chance, they discovered that they had grown up mere miles apart in the rural hills of neighboring Reynolds and Iron Counties. Joyce treasured her time with family and was the most precious stepmother to Lynette (Mark) Winchester, Kenith Jr. (Deborah), David (Susie Jansen), and Scott (Jennifer). Joyce was adored by her grandchildren. She worked hard to play hard, and she never missed an opportunity to spontaneously pick her grandchildren up for weekends away where she would share stories with them about legends of the foothills of Missouri, her dearest father, and her mischievous childhood. Her gift for storytelling is amongst many of her attributes. Her successful career extended from Brown Shoe Company to achieving the position of CEO at Badger Products before finally retiring in 2008 from an administrative position for USDA where she received several certificates of recognition, including one for her efforts in assisting the office in attaining the highest number of 504 loans and grants in the state. After retirement, Joyce spent her time at Ken’s side, eternally the love of her life. Together, they enjoyed hosting generous events surrounded by friends and family, where Joyce was known as the most gracious hostess. During the summer, she spent her days poolside, soaking up the sun and doting on her great-grandchildren. She and Ken would often be present to cheer on their great-grandchildren at sports events and extracurricular activities, family forever their pride and joy. Joyce is survived by her beloved husband, Kenith; sisters, Charlene and Carolyn; cherished stepchildren, Lynette Winchester, Kenith Jr., David and Scott; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, James; her granddaughter, Christina; and her parents. Joyce especially will be remembered for her spirited and welcoming presence, her unwavering faith, and her rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family, friends and others whose lives Joyce touched are invited to gather on Saturday, May 3, at Chapel Hill Mortuary-Robert Brown Chapel in Hillsboro, where services will be held to honor the life and legacy of Joyce M. Jarvis. The viewing will begin at 11 a.m. Funeral services will commence at 2 p.m.
