Self, Joan M., (nee Scherer) of High Ridge, Missouri, was born May 20, 1942 in Perryville, Missouri to Louis and Dorothy (nee Besand) Scherer and entered into rest Wednesday, April 10, 2024 in Fenton, Missouri at the age of 81 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Dorothy (nee Besand) Scherer; sister, Judith (Patrick) Winschel and brother-in-law, Allen Schumer. She is survived by her children; Jonathan (Kimberly) Self and Julie (Ronald) Palmisano; grandchildren, Hailey Palmisano and Samuel Palmisano; one great grandson on the way, Antonio Palmisano; sister, Janice Schumer; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joan's legacy is one woven with threads of kindness, community, and dedication. Her vibrant spirit found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was the thrill of a BINGO win or the warmth of fellowship at the community center where she volunteered tirelessly. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, with her unwavering commitment to her church serving as a guiding light for others. But it was perhaps in her career at Schnucks Supermarket where Joan's true mark was made. For over three decades, she poured her heart and soul into her work, embodying the values of hard work and integrity. Her retirement in 2008 marked the end of an era, but her impact resonates in the countless lives she touched along the way. Joan's legacy is not just one of professional achievement, but of the profound influence of a compassionate soul who made the world a brighter place for all who knew her. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, MO 63016. Funeral Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill, MO. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill, MO.
