Jewell Ray Steele

Jewell Ray Steele was born on October 5, 1922, in Powerdly, Kentucky, a son of Charles and Vola (Mercer) Steele and departed this life on Monday, May 25, 2015, at Christian Healthcare South in Lebanon, Missouri, where he had been in failing health. Mr. Steele had attained the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 20 days. Mr. Steele was united in marriage to Mary Jo Todd on November 21, 1953, in Clarksville, Tennessee, and to this union five children were born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, in July 2007; his father, his mother, one brother, Harold Steele; and one sister Wanda Patton. Mr. Steele was a member of First Baptist Church of House Springs where he served as deacon for many years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers union and employed by Chrysler Corporation for 38 years, retiring in 1984. Jewell enjoyed serving at church, fishing and watching Cardinals baseball games. Those left to cherish the memory of Jewell Steele include one daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Goode of Millington, Tennessee; four sons, Charles “Bub” (Terri) Steele of Russiaville, Indiana; Jeffrey (Sandra) Steele of Waynesville, Missouri; Anthony Steele of Warrenton, Missouri; and John (Heidi) Steele of Chesterfield, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Joshua (Angela) Steele, Daniel Goode, Aaron Goode, Jillian (Doug) Weiblen, Megan (Bryan) Welch, Mackenzie (Lance) Atterberry, Jeremy (Maureen) Landness, and Brady Steele; and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor Goode, Brooklyn Atterberry, Brylee Welch, Blake Atterberry, Anna Steele, Nicholas Steele, Rylen Atterberry and Kate Steele; and other relatives and friends. Visitation Friday, May 29, 2015, from 1 p.m. 2 time p.m., at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri. Service Friday, May 29, 2015, starting at 2 p.m., at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY.
