Jerry Denzil Tripp

Tripp, Jerry Denzil, of High Ridge, Missouri, was born November 5, 1928 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Willis and Rena (nee Atchison) Tripp and entered into rest Friday, August 11, 2023 in Cedar Hill, Missouri at the age of 94. He is preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings. He is survived by his loving wife, Fern Tripp, three (3) children; David (Sandi) Tripp, Richard Tripp, and Cheryl (Robert) Scott, five (5) grandchildren; Brian (Jen) Tripp, Shauna (Stephanie) Lawson, Benjamin (Breanna) Scott, Emily (Karl) Pearson, and Sam (Hunter) Tripp, two (2) great grandchildren; Evelynn Scott and Allen Scott, a brother; Webster Tripp, along with numerous extended family and friends. Jerry was a loving husband, devoted father, doting grandfather and great grandfather, and beloved brother. He loved spending time with his family. He cherished a beautiful life with his loving wife, Fern of 70 years. Jerry was a proud member of the United States Army. He served as Sergeant in the Korean War, whereupon he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with letter “V” for heroism in action. Jerry enjoyed a long career in the automotive industry as a skilled auto mechanic. In his earlier years he worked on riverboats in Chicago, traveling up and down the Mississippi River. Jerry had a creative side, as a sketch artist and playdough sculptor, whereupon he would captivate his audience, typically children, who would gather around mesmerized by his creative talent. He would educate them on what he was doing. His artistic talent was passed early on to his son, David. Jerry will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Chapel Hill Mortuary followed by a Memorial Committal Service with Military Honors at 12:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, St. Louis, Missouri.
