Janet Louise Burle

Janet Louise Burle, age 73, peacefully departed this life on Friday, October 17, 2025, surrounded by love. Beloved daughter of the late William B. and Violet R. (née Tillman) Johnson; loving wife of the late Gary L. Burle; devoted mother of Jessica (Matthew) Potter; cherished grandmother of Annabelle Bernadette and Matthew Davis Potter; and dear sister of Patricia D. Johnson. Born on September 2, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri, Janet was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools and graduated from Cleveland High School. At the age of 14, she was baptized at St. Louis Carondelet Baptist Church in 1966, a milestone that shaped her spiritual journey. She earned her Business Degree from Webster University in 1974. On September 7, 1979, Janet married the love of her life, Gary Lee Burle. Their union was filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures, lasting 32 beautiful years until Gary’s passing in 2011. Together, they traveled to places like New York, Las Vegas, and Florida, building cherished memories along the way. Janet dedicated 32 years of service to Anheuser-Busch, where she worked as an Event Planner and Facilities Manager, retiring in 2008 at the age of 56. In 2023, she became a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church, where her spiritual commitment continued to flourish. Janet was known for her warm, cheerful spirit and her genuine love for connecting with others. Her compassion extended to all creatures, especially her beloved pets—Jack, Penny, Gus, Socks, and Rusty. She took joy in feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard each morning and looked after the deer that wandered through, offering them food and protection. Her favorite pastimes included fly fishing at Bennett Springs every year, gardening in her back yard, and golfing with friends. But nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, especially on outings to the St. Louis Zoo and Grant’s Farm. Janet’s life was a testament to kindness, dedication, and love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and connection that will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In honor of Janet, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri.
