Dale E. Sherbutte

Dale E. Sherbutte, age 82, of Hillsboro, Missouri, passed away on July 4th 2026, at his home. Born on 11/17/1943 in Port Huron, Michigan, he was the son of Angus and Edna Lenn Sherbutte. At a young age, Dale ran away from home and joined the Circus. When he was eighteen, Dale joined the Army and was sent to Korea. While stationed overseas, he was notified that his parents were killed in a house fire. The Army sent him back to the States, and he was stationed at Granite City, Illinois Army Depot. While there, he met his future wife, Gloria, at a New Year's Eve Party. Dale and Gloria were wed on February 12, 1966, at St. Mary of Victories Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Even though he had dropped out of school for life under the big Top, Dale was an intelligent man. He went to Bailey School of Technology and became a Master Mechanic. He specialized in Transmissions and had worked for Chrysler Dealerships until he retired at 62. Dale's obsession with cars didn't end at the end of the workday.t broadened into stock cars. The cars he built were raced at Pevely, Belleville, and the Old St. Charles Track. Pictures of Dale's cars that he built are on displayed here. He was an avid NASCAR Car fan and attended a few NASCAR races in Atlanta and Talladega, as well as watching the races on TV. He enjoyed country music, especially Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Willy Nelson, and Patsy Cline. He loved vacationing in Florida and Gulf Shores as well as taking his pontoon out on Goose Creek. There were many sides of Dale that go back to his early childhood. He lived the good, the bad, and the ugly at times, but always focused on the good. He was full of love, jokes, and pranks that he often played on family and friends, all doing so with a cold, refreshing, frosty can of Miller Lite in his hand. He is survived by: Wife-Gloria Sherbutte (nee Nemeth) Daughter-Tamara Victoria (nee Sherbutte) Kelsheimer and Kelly Bowling. Grandson-Samuel Theodore (Nicole) Kelsheimer Grandson-Tyler Nicholas Kelsheimer Grandson-Tiernan Ray Kelsheimer Granddaughter-Tiffany Marie Kelsheimer and Mike Dankel Visitation-Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 11 am to 1 pm at Robert Brown Chapel, Hillsboro, Missouri. Funeral Service-Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment- Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Glade Chapel Cemetery, Hillsboro, Missouri. After the interment, friends and family are invited to the Knights of Columbus Hall, on Old Hwy 21, for food and fellowship.
