Carol Jean Hoff

Carol Jean (nee Krafft) Hoff passed from this life on Saturday, March 30th following complications from a fall. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. Leroy and Marcella Krafft and her husband Robert H. Hoff. She leaves behind three children, Myla (Randy Stevens), Eric Hoff and Carl Hoff (Margaret). She was the proud grandmother to Seth Hoff, John Hoff, Aaron Stevens (Vickie), Scott Stevens (Linsey) and Lee Stevens (Alicia). She was especially taken with her great grandchildren: Crew, Core, Case, Emma, Grace and Remi who knew her as Gigi. Carol grew up in the Baden neighborhood of north St. Louis. She rode the school bus with her future husband Bob when they both attended Beaumont High School. Bob and Carol were married in November of 1956 and had three children by 1960. Carol earned an art degree from Washington University and was an accomplished oil painter. She loved being a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and later worked various jobs, most notably as a graphic artist for Channel Nine. Carol was an active member of the Webster Groves Herb Society and Women’s Alliance at Eliot Chapel in Kirkwood. Carol attended church regularly and loved to sing hymns. She was a gardener, decorator and a cat lover to many felines over the years. She liked getting together with girlfriends for coffee at Bread Co. , finding a bargain at Kohl’s, watching the birds and sending greeting cards. She liked to stay busy doing crossword puzzles, online jigsaw puzzles and keeping up with The Young and the Restless. Carol valued her independence and never complained. She gave compliments easily and lived modestly. She had a lightness of spirit that was hard to define, but easy to see. She will be dearly missed, but always in our hearts. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at DeGreeff Hospice House who treated her with compassion and dignity. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Missouri Botanical Gardens or the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.) A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY - KIRKWOOD, 10301 Big Bend Rd. Kirkwood, Missouri 63122.
