Brad A. Harrelson

Brad A. Harrelson - A Life Well Lived, Well Dressed, and Well Played. He was born April 22, 1952 in La Plata, Missouri to Velma Meier (nee Stafford) and Harold Dyer, who have preceded him in death. Brad passed away peacefully at his residence on March 1, 2026, at age 73. Loving husband of Denise Du Bose; devoted father of Danielle Dyer; cherished grandfather of Hadlie; beloved brother of Alan Dyer and Debbie Nicolai; dear uncle of Bradley (Kelly) Dyer, Jeremy (Kellie) Kessler, and Sarah (Michael) Dalmolin; and sweet great uncle to many. Brad is also survived by Denise's daughters, Lauren (John) Wolff and Leslie (Bryan) Riley; and her grandchildren, Hunter, Aja, Kat, and Hayden. Brad A. Harrelson lived life the way a good guitar solo should be played—smooth in places, loud in the right moments, and always with great style. A lover of rock n' roll with a soft spot for light jazz, Brad could often be found with a guitar in hand, switching easily between acoustic and electric depending on the mood. Music was never just something he listened to; it was something he lived. Nearly 17 years ago, Brad met the love of his life, Denise, and from that moment forward they became partners in adventure. Together they built a life full of laughter, travel, and a shared appreciation for good food and good company. They loved heading to the beaches of Florida, wandering through festivals—Greek, German, and the Renaissance Fair among their favorites—and spending evenings dining at places like Bartolino's South, Bristol's, Brass Rail, or really anywhere with a patio where they could sit outside and enjoy the moment. He also loved Denise’s culinary expertise at home, and when he had a hankering, she made sure to create a meal that fulfilled his heart’s desires. Whether it was satisfying his infamous sweet tooth or delighting the savory side of his palate, she created a memorable meal for his every craving. Brad and Denise made a tradition of attending art shows and festivals, rarely missing the annual Clayton Art Show. They also embraced the outdoors together—biking, hiking, and kayaking at Creve Coeur—because Brad was always game for whatever Denise had in mind. His easygoing, laid-back spirit made him the perfect adventure partner, always willing to try something new. Of the many adventures Denise challenged him to, one of his all-time favorites was his very first zip-lining experience, which he landed with, “That was AWESOME!” At home, Brad had a deep appreciation for the art of a well-kept lawn. Mowing and landscaping were not chores—they were a craft. His yard reflected the same pride he took in himself. Brad was known for his impeccable grooming, sharp style, and a shoe collection that may or may not have rivaled Denise's. He also enjoyed quieter pursuits. Brad loved reading, particularly history, and had a fondness for historical war movies. When it came to movies in general, his tastes were wide open—comedies, dramas, and yes, even a good romance. Family meant everything to Brad. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with those he loved, creating memories that will be remembered just as warmly as the stories about him. He was funny and enjoyed a good laugh. His laughter was contagious and shared with good people. Christmas held a special place in his heart. Brad looked forward to the season each year and had a famous llama sweater that made its regular holiday appearance. At one point he claimed to love Christmas so much he simply left the tree up year-round—because why limit joy to one month? In his younger years, Brad was an athlete, playing baseball and basketball and becoming well known among his peers. His easy charm and popularity earned him the title of Homecoming King during his senior year of high school. After graduation, his adventurous spirit led him west to California and Arizona, where he spent time traveling and exploring before life eventually brought him back to where he would build his life with Denise. Brad will be remembered as someone who embraced life fully—whether that meant playing guitar, tending his lawn, planning the next festival outing, or simply sitting outside with Denise enjoying a meal and the day's conversation. He lived with style, curiosity, music, humor, respect, and love. And somewhere, one hopes, there's a sunny patio, a perfectly trimmed lawn, a guitar nearby, and a Christmas tree that never has to come down.
