Alice P. Frede

Alice P. Frede, 95, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was born in St. Louis City, the daughter of the late Martin C and Helen (Steffen) Dautenhahn. On December 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to William Frede. Alice is preceded in death by her husband William and three sons, Terry, Wayne and James and 4 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include her children: William (Doris) Frede of Lee Summit, George (Cathie) Frede of Eldon, Christopher (Sue) Frede of Cedar Hill, Keith (Peggy) Frede of Bend, Oregon, Mary (Jeff) Robertson of Dittmer and Linda (Jeff) Queen of Dittmer; daughter-in-law: Sue Frede of Dittmer 35 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Alice was a lifelong member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed bowling, walking at the high school track, spending time with family and her love for wildlife and wild birds. Many people would compare Alice to being a “saint on earth”. Now those are some shoes to fill, but she fit them perfectly. She lived her life by example of Faith, Love and Charity. She had a deep faith within the Catholic religion and supported her Parish wholeheartedly. She also had a soft spot in her heart for anyone in need and supported the local Peace Pantry. She lived her life with unconditional love and had a welcoming spirit about her that radiated to anyone she met. She was always very supportive and encouraging to her family. She was never judgmental and accepted you the way you were. She had a way of making her children and grandchildren feel like they were her special one, because in her eyes they were. She could turn a negative situation around quickly with her wit and humor. Pretty soon you were laughing with her and forgot what the problem was. She always dreamed of having a big family and was in her glory when family was all around her for gatherings. She could be busy in the kitchen but would always take time out to hold a new grandbaby, read someone a book, or get a band aid. Whatever was needed. The Frede house was a gathering place for all of the neighborhood kids and she would welcome them with open arms, with food, or guidance, or whatever the need of the day was. She will be truly missed by all that knew her, but her memories will live on. Alice was a special and amazing lady that made an impact on many lives in her 95 years of life! Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 19th, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4696 Notre Dame Lane, House Springs, MO 63051. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Expression of Sympathy may be made to Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
