Gloria "Dean" Jacobs

A Daughter, A Sister, A Mother, Gloria Dean Jacobs was born December 25, 1934 in St Louis, Missouri. She was raised in the union of Paralee (mother) and Sylvester Moore (stepfather). She was the second of seven children in this union. Melvin “Buck” Thomas, Maggie, Sylvester, Lee Alphonso, Kenneth and Bobby Lee Moore. Dean as she was well-known, at a young age was baptized at Northern Missionary Baptist Church. Educated in St Louis Public School System. She attended Waring Elementary, graduated at the age of 17 from Vashon High School, and received an Associate Degree from Forest Park Community College. Dean worked 35 years for the Army Publication Center and retired in 1999. Retirement was too slow for Dean. So her sister-in-law (Frances), invited her to work alongside her, and her daughter (Marsha) at Thomas Nursing Service. Dean worked for another 15 years before calling it quits and going home to read her many newspapers. Dean loved to read, listen to music and travel. Her love for reading came with a healthy price. She would make sure she had at LEAST one newspaper everyday (smile). She read any and everything that came her way. If you were one of Dean kids…three things you did automatically: 1). Take the note. 2). No substitutes!! and 3). Do not forget the PAPER!! (smile). Anybody that knew Dean knew she did not play when it came to her reading material and spending her money on WHAT SHE ASKED FOR!!! (smile) Her love of music was superb (You named it … she had heard it and could tell you all about it). Her love for travel took her on many trips across the country and over a few oceans. When you promised herself a trip to San Francisco, California, she was true to herself. She made it there with her dedicated travelling buddies (they know who they are) in December 2015. Which turn out to be her last and very wonderful trip. Gloria was united in matrimony to William B. Jacobs and from that union were five sons and one daughter. Ricardo, Brad, Helene, Craig, William T. (Rooney) and Dean (Deano). The Lord called Gloria home at 4:24 pm on January 27, 2016. She was in Fresno, California, spending time with her only daughter when she departed this life. Since she was not able to return to St. Louis, her daughter made it possible for her to say “Goodbye” to many of her loved ones over the phone. She leaves to cherish her memories: Children: Ricardo, Brad, William, and Dean Jacobs, Helene & Ahmad Salahud-Din. Siblings: Maggie & Andrew Strong, Sylvester, Kenneth, Bobby Lee & Erhtalyne Moore. Grandchildren: Ricardo B. “Lil Ricky” Jacobs, Romanita “Smokey” King, Ameen “Bo Bo” Salahud-Din, Najmah M. Salahud-Din, Cory R. “Co Co” Jacobs, Abdullah A. “Sal” Salahud-Din, Natavia R. “Tai” Jacobs, Craig J. “Craigee” Jacobs, Cherice V. Jacobs. Sister-in-law: Elizabeth “Terry” Allen. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends wo truly loved, respected, and enjoyed spending time with Gloria Dean.
