Barbara Ann Short

Short, Barbara Ann (nee Turley), of Cedar Hill, Missouri, was born November 29, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri to Howard and Margaret (nee Pritchett) Turley entered into rest Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Cedar Hill, Missouri at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 26 days. She is preceded in death by, her parents; one (1) brother; Eugene (Betty) McDuffie. She is survived by her loving husband; Ronald Lee Short, four (4) children; Ronald Lee (Anna Marie) Short, Jr., Howard Ellis (Julie) Short, Darlene Elizabeth (Sandi) Dugan, and Deborah Sue (Brian) Schuhmacher, thirteen (13) grandchildren; Michael (Amy) Short, Daniel (Jackie) Short, Samantha (Edwin) VanWeelden, Kristen (Jonathan) Koop, Kelsey (Nick) Hoffman, Kevin (Nikki) Short, Courtney (Lucas) Claspille, Joey (Kara) Dugan, Jacob (Tami) Dugan, Joshua Dugan, Jason (Emily) Schuhmacher, Alexandra (Alexander) Waldroup, and Jonathan Schuhmacher, twenty-four (24) great grandchildren; two (2) great great grandchildren; one (1) sister; Sarah “Sally” Wymer (Carroll), along with numerous extended family and friends. Barbara was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and sister. She and Ron were together for 66 years which she very much so cherished their time together. Barbara loved children. She was a dedicated “lunch lady” at Northwest High School for 25 years. She was always willing to help, especially making certain that those children less fortunate or with special needs were taken care of for lunch. Barbara enjoyed life, as was known to be the “life of the party”- always with a smile and full of laughter. She enjoyed socializing, especially with her next-door neighbors. She was an avid bingo player and square dancer. Barbara loved to travel. She and Ron would frequently travel the country. Barbara was dedicated to her church, St. Martin’s. She volunteered on the Women’s Fellowship and was always the first to lend a helping hand. Barbara will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28th, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at CHAPEL HILL MORTUARY, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. immediately followed by interment at CHAPEL HILL MEMORIAL GARDENS, 6300 Highway 30, Cedar Hill, Missouri.
